BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has joined the reception organized at Senakunj on the occasion of Armed Forces Day. She reached Senakunj of Dhaka Cantonment at 3:35 pm today, Thursday.Eyewitness sources said that when Khaleda Zia reached Senakunj, she was received by Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman, Navy Chief Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hasan and Air Chief Marshal Hassan Mahmud Khan.
Earlier, Khaleda Zia left for the reception program at Senakunj from her Gulshan residence 'Firoza' at around 3:30 pm. Sharmila Rahman, wife of her younger son, late Arafat Rahman Koko, is with her.
BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan, who was present at the reception, told Prothom Alo that after Khaleda Zia reached Senakunj and took her seat, the interim government's chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus exchanged greetings with her.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir arrived at the reception earlier. He cried when he saw Khaleda Zia at the event.
Gano Forum founder Dr. Kamal Hossain, BNP leaders Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Abdul Moin Khan, as well as members of the standing committee, and leaders of various parties were present at the reception at Senakunj.
This time, on the occasion of Armed Forces Day, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 26 leaders of the party were invited to Senakunj.
